Dean Louis E. Lataif

Louis E. Lataif is the Allen Questrom Professor and Dean of Boston University School of Management.

He leads the School’s bold approach to management education—one that uniquely fuses the art, science and technology of business and combines functional rigor with the ability to lead across disciplines. Under his direction, the School’s new state-of-the-art home was built.

He assumed the deanship in 1991 after a distinguished 27-year-career with Ford Motor Company. 

In 1981, when he was named corporate vice president, he was then Ford’s youngest officer. Four years later, he was appointed vice president, North American Sales Operations and, in l988, became president of Ford of Europe. 

Born in Fall River, Mass., Lataif earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and an MBA from Harvard University. He holds three honorary doctoral degrees and is a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. 

Dean Lataif currently serves on the boards of directors of Group 1 Automotive, Magna International, Inc., Abiomed, Inc., Interaudi Bank, and The Iacocca Foundation. He is also an advisor to Sanyo Electric Company. His outside interests include piano, skiing, and golf.
