Institute for Global Work
Boston University School of Management Plans to Establish an Institute for Global Work Funded by a $1.67 Million Gift from the Keane Foundation
The Institute for Global Work (IGW) will be a groundbreaking new research center made possible by a gift from the Keane Foundation to the Boston University School of Management. Efforts are now underway to finalize and formally establish the new institute.
The IGW will serve as an influential driver of research and thought leadership – one that shapes and guides leading-edge practices pertaining to global business processes. With a mandate to foster partnership between industry and academia, the institute will work collaboratively with member companies, worldwide academic bodies, and think tanks to generate compelling research that motivates managers to think and work differently on a global scale.
The IGW also will design first-of-its-kind education and certification programs to help executives, managers, vendors, service professionals, consultants and analysts to understand the requirements and create a systematic logic for effectively architecting global work.
Dr. Chris Newell, a pioneer in the knowledge and learning field and Keane’s Chief Collaboration Officer, joins Boston University as Senior Research Fellow and will lead the efforts of the Institute as its Executive Director. BU School of Management Professor N. Venkatraman will be faculty director, working with Professors John Henderson and Kathleen Curley.
