Alex Corbacho '10, Scott Stewart (faculty advisor), Margaret Lam '10, and Michael Murphy '10Upon the heels of last year’s victory, Boston University School of Management’s undergraduate team made it to the finals in the Fourth Annual Investment Research Challenge sponsored by The Boston Security Analysts Society, Inc.

Competing against MBAs from MIT, Harvard, Babson, BC, and other schools, the BU undergraduate team consisted of Mike Murphy, Alex Corbacho, and Margaret Lam.

The finals took place on February 9, 2009, and, although the BU team ceded to MIT’s MBA’s, Faculty Advisor Scott Stewart reported,

“The SMG team did a super job, giving the winning team of MBAs from MIT a run for their money.  There’s no formal second place, but it’s telling that the winning MBA team has asked our undergrads to help them prepare for their next competition in NYC in March between winning schools from North & South America.  The BU team graciously agreed to work with them.

“It’s telling that the winning MBA team has asked our undergrads to help them prepare for their next competition.”

“It is truly remarkable to see 21 year olds compete with 30 year olds.  The BU team’s poise, demonstrated knowledge and professionalism truly impressed the judges, audience, and representatives from Staples, the subject of the analysis. ” – Scott Stewart, Faculty Advisor
