OTM Department 10th in US for INFORMS Contributions
9th Rothkopf Rankings of Contributions to INFORMS Practice Literature
In a paper from the November-December 2011 edition of Interfaces noting universities’ contributions to operations research practice, Boston University’s Operations and Technology Management Department is ranked in the top ten across the U.S.
The ranking, compiled by Ronald D. Fricker Jr. (Operations Research Department, Naval Postgraduate School) is determined by number of publications between 2004 and 2010 in the journal Interfaces and the practice section of Operations Research. Fricker writes, “Continuing the work begun by Michael H. Rothkopf in 1996, this paper presents the ninth ranking of universities according to their contributions to the INFORMS practice literature. Two rankings are given, each based on a different metric: visibility is the number of times a university is listed as the primary academic affiliation in the INFORMS practice literature; yield is the equivalent number of INFORMS practice papers attributable to each university based on author primary academic affiliation.”
Boston University ranks 10th in the U.S. in yield and 11th in visibility, and in the top 2 in New England for both measurements.
