The Boston University School of Management's faculty includes business leaders and scholars from around the globe and who are known not only for the dynamism of their teaching but for the innovation of their research. The faculty regularly consults internationally, and plays a key role in the strategic management of Fortune 500 companies.

Mark Allan, Faculty Director, Health Sector Management Program
Professor Allan is an Executive in Residence at the School of Management and has a faculty appointment at the Boston University School of Medicine in the Family Medicine Department. He teaches Health Care Finance and Economics as well as The American Health Care System. With a long history of senior management positions in health and human service organizations, Professor Allan has acted as a consultant in a variety of settings. Mr. Allan holds an MBA in both Health Care Management and Public Management from Boston University and an MSW from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Roberta N. Clarke, Associate Professor and Former Chairman, Department of Marketing
Roberta N. Clarke is one of the leading experts in the field of health care marketing. Professor Clarke received her MBA and Doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. She is a nationally known speaker and writer in the health care field and in the area of service management, and has worked extensively with managed care organizations, medical group practices, hospitals, sub-acute and extended care facilities, home health care providers, physician and clinical professional associations, and many other types of health related organizations, in the US and abroad.

Karen Golden-Biddle, , Professor, Organizational Behavior
Professor Golden-Biddle is an expert in qualitative methodology, theorizing, cultural and relational dynamics of change, and has interests that center on the process of health system change and innovation. In her research she has taken an ethnographic approach to closely investigate change in US and Canadian health organizations, and examined how organization-based change can best be achieved by insiders. She holds an MBA and Ph.D. from Case Western University.

Janelle Heineke, Professor and Chair, Department of Operations and Technology Management
Janelle Heineke is Professor and Chair of the Operations and Technology Management Department. Her research focuses on service operations and quality management, particularly in professional services; she has published in a variety of academic journals and has written four books. Professor Heineke has 15 years of work experience in health care as both a clinician and manager. She served as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at the School of Management and has won awards for both teaching and research. She holds a DBA degree from Boston University, an MBA degree from Babson College, an MSN degree from Boston College, and a BSN degree from Marquette University.

William Kahn, Professor, Organizational Behavior
Professor Kahn is a faculty member in the Organizational Behavior Department at the Boston University School of Management where he has taught since receiving his Ph.D. in Psychology at Yale University. His teaching, research and consulting focuses on the creation of effective working relationships across functions, departments, hierarchical levels and organizational cultures. As a core faculty member of the Executive MBA Program, he teaches courses on managing teams, organizational change, and leadership. He was awarded the School of Management's Broderick Prize for Teaching in 1994.

Michael Lawson, Senior Associate Dean, and Professor, Information Systems Department
Dean Lawson is the Senior Associate Dean of the School of Management, and is responsible for all faculty actions and oversees the School's academic departments, research centers, Doctoral Program, and the Executive Leadership Center. His teaching interests include strategic management of new business models, the incorporation of broadly based macroeconomic analysis in strategic positioning, and the role of information technology in economic globalization. He has developed and delivered numerous executive education programs, and consults for a number of Fortune 100 companies. Professor Lawson holds his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Iowa.

Melvyn Menezes, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Marketing
Professor Menezes, a faculty member at Boston University, is a management educator, consultant, and former member of the faculty at the Harvard Business School. His primary areas of expertise are marketing strategy, marketing high-tech products, customer and market focus, identification of growth opportunities, strategy, distribution channels, and customer service. He possesses over 25 years of experience as a management educator and consultant. His clients have included General Electric, Toshiba, Hewlett-Packard, Texas Instruments, Merck, Amgen, DuPont, Mobil, Time Warner, and Sears. Professor Menezes earned his Ph. D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Michael Smith, Associate Professor, Accounting
Professor Smith's teaching interests include financial and managerial accounting, financial reporting and analysis of financial statements. His broad research interests include multinational transfer pricing, executive compensation, financial disclosure, and accounting microstructure. Professor Smith has been published in several academic journals, including The Accounting Review and the Journal of Accounting Research. Professor Smith holds his Ph.D. in Accounting from Stanford University.

Mickey Tripathi, President and CEO of Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative
Micky Tripathi, Ph.D. is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative, a non-profit collaboration of 34 leading Massachusetts organizations. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from MIT, a master of public policy degree from Harvard, and an AB in political science from Vassar College. Prior to receiving his Ph.D., he was a senior operations research analyst in the Office of the Secretary of Defense in Washington D.C., for which he received the Secretary of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award.
