Katie decided an MBA was the best way to advance her career. “I looked at several different part-time MBA programs in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, but BU’s PEMBA program stood out because they make the effort to provide a full-time experience to part-time students.”

“Part-time students have many of the same professors who teach in the full-time program, and you can see that in the quality of teaching,” she said. “Another big plus is that BU offers the option of a cohort experience for part-time students, where you take several of your core courses with the same people—that means you can build a network the same way full-time students do.”

“When you’re here, you know you’re getting a quality education from a globally recognized program. In my cohort, my classmates have diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and professional experience, and that really helps foster a collaborative learning environment.”

One of her first classes, Accounting, included an assignment on Ford Motor Co. The project involved reviewing and analyzing Ford’s financial statements over a specific time period and explaining the market story based on the information in those statements. “A few weeks later, I ended up performing some key competitor analysis at work, using what I learned in that class. It’s so rewarding to learn new skills and bring them right into my job.”

Katie is an avid runner, reader, gardener, and Boston sports fan. She also loves to travel and says, “I’m a big supporter of community-sponsored agriculture programs and the farm-to-table movement. I’m also the very proud mom of two rescued greyhounds.” Short term, she’s hoping to find time for running and classes. “My mid-term goals include helping to shape the corporate marketing strategy at my company.”
