Curriculum
We teach you the groundwork. You apply it in real-life cases developed by investment professionals, including live fund management, where your grade depends on your investment performance. In addition, students present the program’s final recommendations to practicing professionals who tell you whether you won the business.
- The program provides the background necessary for preparing for the CFA® exams
- The curriculum, developed and taught by the MSIM faculty and advisory board, integrates state-of-the-art analytical methods with hi-tech learning technology. It covers 38 credits in 17 months. All courses are required and exclusive to MSIM cohorts.
- There are two residence weeks, which you can read more about under the Residence Week section of this site.
Designed For Working Professionals
The MSIM Program is structured to accommodate working professionals in a convenient, executive-style class setting. Classes meet Tuesday evenings each week from 6:00pm – 9:00pm and alternate Saturdays from 9:00am – 4:00pm. The program also includes two separate weeks of full-time study. In the summer semester, July and August run on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule, so students have their weekends free. View the calendar for the students who began the program in January 2010.
Beginning in January and ending in May of the next year, the program is completed in 17 months. A small cohort of students move through the program together, offering unique learning and networking opportunities.

A Curriculum Built for Tomorrow’s Challenges
The curriculum, developed and taught by the MSIM faculty and MSIM Advisory Board, integrates state-of-the-art analytical methods and practical cases with powerful on-line communication tools. Students learn the theoretical underpinnings first, followed by practical applications taught in a custom case format by faculty with extensive real-world investment experience. All courses are required and unique to the MSIM Program.
The MSIM Cohort and Its Benefits
Each incoming MSIM class is a “cohort” group. Together, cohorts take all their classes, develop strategies, and solve problems.
Cohorts help create bonds that provide built-in peer support, promote better learning and study practice, facilitate engaging class discussions, and enable more productive teaming. The cohort experience also enhances networking.
