An interview with Michael Salinger, Professor, Department of Economics
Q: You’ve got an exciting new position as Director of the Bureau of Economics for the FTC. What does the job entail? A: There are a lot of different aspects to the job. The most important part is to make sure that the economic analysis done by the bureau is correct and presented in a way that the commissioners and the FTC’s lawyers can understand. I am the primary economic adviser to the Chairman as well as to the other commissioners. There is also a public side of the position, involving giving speeches, going to conferences, etc.
