HONORS PROGRAM CURRICULUM
Meet the Faculty Director
Associate Professor Shulamit (Shu) Kahn has been the Faculty Director of the SMG Honors Program since 2003 and has loved every minute of it. As Faculty Director, she has worked with Dean Procopio and the Honors Advisory Board to continually add intellectual content, opportunities for community-building, and fun to the Honors Program. She is proud of the mix of faculty she has recruited to teach Honors Seminars and the guest speakers to the Freshman Honors Program Colloquium. She stands in awe of the students in the program who manage to be simultaneously incredible students, entrepreneurs, and altruists. Professor Kahn is a Ph.D. economist (MIT 1983) in SMG's Department of Finance and Economics since 1987. In her normal teaching duties, she coordinates SM222 Modeling Business Decisions and Market Outcomes (a.k.a. Stats II to undergrads). Her present research is on compliance with labor regulations (overtime, minimum wage) and on scientific innovation and diffusion during early careers of Ph.D. scientists. In her other life, she has an economist husband (in CAS) and two daughters -- one college-aged and one in high school.
